Passionate about art and stories since he was a child, Bruno knew from an early age that he wanted to be a filmmaker. With more than 10 years of experience, as a director Bruno worked at the production company Bossa Nova Films (Atraves.tv), where he had the opportunity to develop his main projects together with MAM - Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo.
He directed a short film ('Ovo') shot in 16mm that was shown at festivals, and directed an award-winning music video ('Camisa 10'). His latest film, called 'Pivete', is currently making the festival circuit. It was shown in the competitive section 'Fronteiras Imaginárias', at the 18th 'Festival Visões Periféricas' in Brazil, and in the 'Ciclo de Primeiras Estreias', at the most traditional cinema in Portugal, Cinema São Jorge. The short film also won the Popular Jury award at the Paranapiacaba Film Festival. Bruno was selected for the TALENT LAB at Reykjavik International Film Festival (2025) and also selected for the Pitching Forum - FEST - New Directors | New Films Festival (2024), with his feature film project "Winter Flowers".
As a video editor, Bruno has edited documentaries, fiction, teasers, video clips, interviews, sports, advertising and videos for social media. In addition to being a director and editor, he is also a writer, screenwriter and film critic. He currently writes articles for JustWatch. He wrote for the websites Cultura Caché, Cineserie and Observatório do Cinema. Bruno published a book of poetry entitled 'Incorpóreo'.
Bruno Pinheiro Melim has an M.A. in Film Project Development (Specialization in Film Narratives) - Lisbon Theatre and Film School (ESTC / IPL); and a B.A in Social Communications with Qualification in Film - Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP).
